Vinland Saga is a manga series written and illustrated by Makoto Yukimura. The story is set in the Danelaw region in the 11th century and is based on several Icelandic sagas: the Flateyjarbók, the Saga of the Greenlanders and the Saga of Erik the Red. This saga tells the story of Thorfinn on his path to avenge his father's death in battle. His exploits in challenging his father's murderer lead him to become involved in the quest for the crown of England.
